Week 28 Update

How far along? 28 weeks today! We have officially started the 3rd trimester. When bed rest started 5 (yes 5!!!) weeks ago this was my first major milestone I was praying we would achieve. Making it to 28 weeks is awesome for baby girl. Next milestone: 32 weeks!

Size of baby? Eggplant.

Baby Development This Week: Blinking her eyes, seeing light, and has developed eye lashes. Surfactant production has started which is crucial to keeping her airways open once she is born.

Total weight gain/loss: We have had a tiny growth spurt and are now about 18 lbs.

Maternity clothes? I have been lounging in my long Target tees but have also put on my gap tank and Target shorts several times this week.

Stretch marks? Still none.

Sleep: Still having similar patterns where I wake up constantly from midnight to 4, then finally get 3-4 hours of sleep before waking up. When I first went on bed rest I was trying to stick to my normal sleep schedule {like I was going to work or something...hah} and my husband reminded me there is no point in worrying about "getting off my sleep schedule" as it will probably never go back to normal since we have a baby coming. Good point. Forget the sleep schedule.

Best pregnancy moment this week: She has started kicking EVEN MORE! Especially on my L upper stomach. She has even woken me up a couple times at night with her dance parties. I am also celebrating the start of the 3rd trimester today!

Miss Anything? We don't have any chocolate in the house right now. That needs to be fixed.

Food cravings: Mostly salty things this week - crackers especially.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Still not feeling like eating cold, leafy greens.

Symptoms: A lot of neck pain this week. My husband says I'm using the words "jacked up" to refer to my neck too much. I know, very professional. I try to speak to him in "patient friendly language".

Happy or Moody most of the time: Mostly happy, a little down at times. The normal ebb and flow of trying to stay mentally sane. Reading Kisses from Katie this week was very emotional and reminded me that I need to not always fill my day with fluff but also spend this time relying on Jesus and his grace.

How much are you showing? The bump continues its steady growth. I've had several people tell me that "you can't even tell you're pregnant from behind!" I'm just going to take that as a compliment.

Labor Signs: I did have 4 contractions in 4 hours on Sunday night after "over doing it" a little earlier in the day. Nothing too crazy but a reminder that I am doing all of this for a reason and that things are not completely normal.

Belly Button in or out? It has progressed a little and is definitely getting closer to being out.

Wedding rings on or off? Still on but I remove them every day just to make sure it's possible.

Looking forward to: Having my husband help me finish up the nursery, spending more time reading and praying this week.
