Welcome to Sofa Mama!

Welcome to my blog! You may find, as it is in its infancy, that many changes will be occurring daily. Part of that is due to the fact that I have all the time in the world to make adjustments and changes.

I am an expectant mom who was put on modified bed rest at 23 weeks pregnant. All of a sudden my daily routine changed. No more going to work. No more being vertical for more than 10-15 minutes at a time. My new life now revolves around the sofa.

All of this lying around is totally worth it as my husband and I are expecting our first child, a baby girl, this fall. After being confined to my sofa, I found myself spending a lot of time researching all things that moms need to prepare for motherhood. My mother-in-law suggested documenting all this valuable research, as well as my thoughts on motherhood and personal experience with bed rest, into a blog so that others could benefit.

This is my first pregnancy. I'm already a mama to a beautiful 3 year old lab (my constant companion on the sofa through all this), however I realize having a baby will be totally different. I don't claim to have all of this mothering thing figured out - I haven't even done it yet! However, I do think I can bring a few things to light for first time and experienced moms. Who has time to read about all this stuff anyway (me I guess)? Plus, I enter motherhood with experience as a pediatric Physical Therapist and have a particular knowledge of facilitating gross motor development.

Hopefully you can find some new insight or thoughts lurking around here. Maybe you can teach me something as well!
