Ways To Save On Baby Gear

I have so much to say on this subject that I almost don't know where to start. There are many ways to decrease the baby costs so I'm going to try really hard keep this clear and concise. Here are ways I have acquired baby gear for a significant discount. Hopefully this will be inspiring to you to shop for deals! They can be found with some patience.

#1 CRAIGSLIST, YARD SALES, AND CONSIGNMENT SALES

Tips:
*Check Craigslist frequently {at least quickly x3/week if there is a specific item you are looking for}, but don't get sucked into every deal. When you look frequently you will know when you're finding a good price.
*Check Craigslist and the newspaper for yard sales in your area. This can be very hit or miss and usually you have to be the first one there to get the really good deal, but the deals can be THAT good.
*Go the the bi-annual large consignment sales in your area that are hosted by "mom groups" or the YMCA.

Deals I've acquired from strategy #1:

Clothes
I have found baby clothes, socks, and shoes anywhere from FIVE CENTS to five dollars {for something nicer like sleep sacks or buntings}. I love Baby Gap but those prices are hard to beat and save a ton of $$$!

High Chair
Sometimes people will give things away for free on Craigslist. For example, I snagged this Ikea Antilop Highchair with Tray in Red {not my favorite color but it was free!} from a family who was just ready to have it out of their house.

#2 BORROW FROM FRIENDS & FAMILY
Especially big items that your baby may or may not like. I'm fortunate to have local relatives who just had babies and are graciously lending me items such as this Fisher Price Nature's Touch Swing {retails $140}:

#3 RECYCLING/GIVEAWAYS {AND GETTING A LITTLE LUCKY}

My mom has a knack for finding things at her local recycling center and for snagging free giveaways off the neighborhood email list. Here are a few items she's found:
*Check the internet for local recycling spots in your area and stop by periodically. You never know when someone will have just dropped off an item you're looking for.

These are some ways I have saved, however there are a few areas I decided to purchase new {mostly for safety concerns}. Look out for my upcoming post on where to buy new and how to save on those items.

As for Little Lady, she is still happy with her life in the womb!
